With the cold weather approaching there's no reason to take your run indoors! Winter is precisely when the local orienteering clubs kick into high gear with a series of 8 great races across the South-western Ontario/GTA region.
The Thomass Winter Adventure Running series is a fun way to get outdoors and stay active during the winter months. In an orienteering race runners use a map and compass to find a series of points in a forested area. You might find yourself running on a trail, across an open field, or through a dense forest as you search for your next control point. Race courses are typically between eight and five kilometres long and are handicapped for age and gender to level the playing field and put first place within everyone's reach.
The first race is this Sunday morning (November 20) at Starkey Hills near Guelph. Further information about that race can be found here: http:/
